National Industrial Contracting Company (NICC) has been awarded a contract for infrastructure works on the central district of a mixed-use development in Doha.

One of the largest private real estate projects in Qatar, Al Wa’ab City (AWC) is spread over an area of 1.2 million sq m in the very heart of Al Wa’ab area.

Following a masterplan redesign, the central district, named Al Wa’ab Central, provides a vast range of apartments complemented by a lively boulevard, animated public spaces, community courtyards, and diverse hospitality, retail, and leisure offerings, all within a walking distance.

The infrastructure works at the central district will start this month and is likely to be completed within 18 months, reported The Peninsula.

Kamal Efrangy, the chief executive of NICC, said: “It is a privilege to be an active participant in the making of such a project. We look forward to working closely with the developer and the owners to deliver what will be the most attractive urban centre in the city.”

With a true sense of place, combining an Arabian feel with modernity, AWC incorporates a diverse residential mix of over 2,000 villas and apartments, more than 200,000 sq m of commercial space and over 100,000 sq m of retail space, including a concept mall.
