Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) is inviting bids to provide supervisory consultancy services for three independent potable water projects in the sultanate, a report said.

These projects are Qurayyat IWP (independent water project), Barka Phase Two expansion and Sur IWP expansion, added the Times of Oman report, citing the OPWP website.

The projects, which will have a combined capacity to produce 307,000 cu m of water per day, are being implemented on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis under the terms of water purchase agreements with OPWP, the report noted.

The demand for potable water in Oman’s northern region is projected to grow by six per cent per annum from 238 million cu m in 2013 to 349 million cu m in 2020, according to the report.
