The Abu Dhabi government has approved Dh74.2 million ($20.3 million) infrastructure development projects in the UAE capital including a major water supply network and establishment of parks, said a report.

The projects were okayed by the executive committee of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council in line with Abu Dhabi Plan to ensure water and energy sustainability, reported state news agency Wam.

The committee, which met under the chairmanship of Jassem Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, agreed to award a Dh49.2 million ($13.4 million) contract for replacement of a vital water supply network of a number of basins in Abu Dhabi in order to enhance operational efficiency and meet current and future needs of the population in line with best international standards, stated the report.

The second project, estimated at Dh25 million ($6.8 million), will see establishment of parks and sustainable utilities that meet the needs of different segments in Al Ain, it added.
