Saudi Arabia’s Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah last month launched massive development projects worth SR54 billion ($14.39 billion) in the kingdom’s new industrial zone in the Eastern Province.

Called Jubail-II, the new city is about 3 km west of the existing Jubail industrial city, operated by the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu.
The new projects included the world’s largest desalination and power generation plant, built at a cost of SR16 billion ($4.26 billion).
The new plant will supply 2,750 MW of electricity and 800,000 cu m of water daily to cities in the Eastern Province.
The projects launched are part of SR174 billion ($46.39 billion) worth of projects under way at Jubail, including the Yanbu National Petrochemical Company (Yansab), which is currently under construction and will be one of the largest industrial complexes in the world on completion.
