At least six hotels – three of which are located on The Palm Jumeirah – are currently being built in Dubai using formwork systems from Paschal-Werk G Maier, according to Amir Delghandi, general director – Middle East from the local office of the German formwork specialist.

In addition, numerous projects for the construction of luxury villas and apartment complexes are also benefiting from the flexibility and speed afforded by these versatile systems, he adds.

Paschal-Werk G Maier has supplied its modular formwork system to several contractors in Dubai as the emirate steps up the pace of work on its hospitality offerings to meet the anticipated demand for the Expo 2020 Dubai event, which will bring together more than 180 nations and an international audience of 25 million visitors.

Among the many luxury projects that Paschal formwork is helping shape are the three hotel projects on The Palm Jumeirah: the seven-storey W-Resort hotel and residences, where the contractor Terraverde is building the double side reinforced concrete (RC) walls using Paschal systems; a five-star hotel apartments project, where the formwork is being used by General Construction Company to build all vertical structures; and a seven-storey four-star hotel being built by ANC Contracting (all the vertical structures).

Elsewhere in Dubai, Becon Construction is also utilising Paschal formwork for all the underground vertical construction components of an 18-storey hotel apartment complex at Jumeirah Village Circle; Abu Hail Contracting is working on a hotel building in Naif using the formwork for the walls and water tank; and Al Hazami Building Contracting is relying on this system for the vertical structures in the basement, such as the retaining wall, water tank, staircase and lift walls, columns and shear walls for a hotel apartments complex in Barsha South.

Some of the luxury villas developments that are employing Paschal formwork are the units at Emirates Hills Third, where CJ Tec Contracting Company is building the basement retaining wall (single and double side) using Paschal; and Privé by Damac at Business Bay, where the formwork is helping shape the retaining wall, columns and shear walls, as well as the Akoya clubhouse for Damac (columns) – both of which are being built by Seidco General Contracting.

“These are just a few of the contractors that have turned to Paschal to ensure the quality and speed of construction,” says the spokesman. “A number of other residential projects are currently benefiting from our systems.”

These comprise the BlueWaters Residential Development and Green Community expansion at Motor City by Al Shafar General Contracting (verticals); Sharina Residency by City Creek Construction (retaining walls and columns); a five-storey residential building in International City, Phase Three, by Al Fawz Contracting (retaining wall); residential and commercial buildings in Hamriya, Jumeirah First and Tecom, by Transemirates Contracting (for retaining walls, columns and core walls);  a 15-storey (plus three-level podium) commercial and residential building in Burj Khalifa District by ANC Contracting (all verticals); several commercial and residential buildings at Jumeirah Village Circle by Becon Construction (retaining wall); residential buildings in Al Nahda and International City, Phase Three by Al Ashram Contracting (all verticals for retaining wall and water tank); and Nakheel’s 489-villa residential development in Nad Al Sheba by Trojan General Contracting (all vertical structures).
