Bahraini firm OAK Group, a renewable energy and infrastructure services solution provider, has in alliance with Al Hamdan Consulting been awarded a contract for Phase One front-end engineering design (Feed) of a by-product recycling plant in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

To be built by Bahrain-based Gulf Interchem, the plant will be designed as an integrated treatment plant recovering valuable molecules and converting them into fine chemicals which can be used in the production of specialist chemicals, such as corrosion inhibitors, adhesives, lubricants and others. It will reduce carbon emissions by around 50,000 tonnes per year and will be located near a complex operated by Sadara Chemical Company.

The contract agreement was signed by Gulf Interchem managing director Bernard van den Wouwer and OAK chief executive Gareth Brown.

Brown said the consultancy will deploy skilled and experienced chartered engineers of varying disciplines to achieve optimum design performance objectives.

“We are humbled to have been chosen by Gulf Interchem ..and this certainly reflects positively on Bahrain’s platform for the private sector enabling OAK to effectively operate as an innovative exporter of engineering solutions,” he added.
