Whether it’s the construction of the vertical elements of a substation or of a 23-storey hotel tower, formwork systems from Germany’s Paschal-Werk G Maier have proved their versatility, making them the preferred choice of a number of contractors in Dubai.

“Our formwork systems are chosen by numerous contractors in the region, thanks to their ability to shape any structural form and speed up the execution of projects,” says Amir Delghandi, general director of Paschal Concrete Forms.

Paschal Concrete Forms, the regional office of the German formwork manufacturer, through its Dubai branch office has supplied its formwork to several key contractors in the UAE, a number that has grown considerably.

To its well-established list of clients in the UAE, Paschal Concrete Forms has added a number of contractors over the past year including Larsen & Toubro Construction, Pivot Engineering and General Contracting, Square General Contracting, City Nights Contracting, IAS Lootah Contracting and Green Oasis General Contracting.

Larsen & Toubro Construction is employing Paschal formwork for all the vertical elements of three 132/33 kV substations; and the Dubai metro’s Red Line extension at Dubai Investment Park, Red Line extension at Sheikh Zayed Road, and Green Line in Qusais.

IAS Lootah Contracting and Green Oasis General Contracting are also using the formwork for the construction of verticals of the 132/11-kV Garden City substation (basement) in Satwa, and a 132/11-kv substation in Downtown Dubai, respectively.

Pivot Engineering and General Contracting is utilising the formwork for the construction of columns of the six-plex villas in Serena Casa Dora, Phase Two, on Emirates Road near Al Qudra Street.

A number of other contractors are using Paschal for the construction of single-side basement walls, namely Square General Contracting for the 10-storey Khalidia Palace Hotel, City Nights Contracting for a hypermarket and office building in Qusais, and Canadian Gulf Construction for a single-storey residential building.

Emirates Sand Contracting is employing Paschal formwork for single and double-sided basement walls of a villa in Barsha; and Al Kharbash Contracting for a water tank and single-sided basement wall of an eight-storey residential building with a gym in Nad Al Hamar.

In terms of landmark developments, two hotels on Dubai’s prestigious Palm Jumeirah are being constructed with the help of Paschal formwork: the seven-storey W-Resort Hotel and Residences, where the system is being utilised by Terraverde to build double-sided reinforced concrete (RC) walls; and a seven-storey five-star hotel apartments, where the formwork is being used by General Construction Company respectively, for all the vertical elements.

General Construction Company is also using Paschal for building the vertical elements of a 12-storey commercial and residential building in Al Barsha; and a 23-storey Kempinski Business Bay hotel tower.

At the Expo 2020 site, Al Hassan Engineering Dubai is taking advantage of the ease of use of the system in the construction of all the vertical elements of a 132/11 kV substation, and also of two substations (Sahil and Deira Island) at Deira Islands A and B.

Seidco General Contracting is using the formwork for the construction of the retaining walls, columns and shear walls of Prive by Damac in Business Bay for UAE-based developer Damac Properties.

Transemirates Contracting has deployed Paschal systems to build retaining walls, columns and core walls on three of its key projects: a five-storey residential and commercial building with two basement levels in Hamriya; a two-storey residential and commercial building with a basement level in Jumeirah First; and the 28-storey Dubai Science Park by Tecom Investment.

Al Shafar General Contracting is using the formwork in several projects, namely Phase Three of Green Community expansion at Motor City, Mohamed bin Rashid Library in Jadaf; the Mediclinic Parkview Hospital, Al Barsha South Third, Harbour View at Dubai Creek, an H2 Hotel building (Phase 1A7) at One Central and the Dubai Mall Boulevard Expansion in Downtown Dubai.

ANC Contracting is building all the vertical elements of a 15-storey commercial and residential building in Burj Khalifa District; a labour accommodation at Al Qouz Second Industrial Area; a four-storey staff accommodation building in Ras Al Khor; and a 13-storey building in Al Furjan using Paschal formwork.

Trojan General Contracting has deployed the system for the construction of footings and plinths of 489 villas at Nakheel’s residential development at Nad Al Sheba, Mira Oasis townhouses, Mudon Development, and Maple townhouses.

Al Tatweer Contracting, part of the Belhasa Group, is building the retaining wall, water tanks and core walls of a 14-storey residential building, with a basement and two parking levels, in Dubai Healthcare City, Phase Two.

CJ Tec Contracting Company is using Paschal’s systems for the water tanks for shops and sheds at Ras Al Khor, and three warehouses at Techno Park; and for the single-side wall and water tanks at a labour accommodation in Jebel Ali.

Al Hazami Building Contracting, meanwhile, is building the retaining wall and water tanks at a seven-storey residential building at International City Dubai that includes a basement; and the verticals of a 16-storey building with a penthouse in Warsan, using formwork from Paschal.
