United Tower ... a key order for Thyssenkrupp Elevator.

Thyssenkrupp Elevator, a global leader in passenger transportation systems, says it has delivered 16 elevators and two escalators to Bahrain’s 200-m United Tower located on the north-eastern shore of capital Manama.

Thyssenkrupp Elevator says this was its biggest ever order in Bahrain.

The ‘twistscraper’, which has set new standards in design, is the country’s sixth tallest building and has been developed by Ahmad Alqaed Group, one of Bahrain’s leading real estate developers.

It is located in Bahrain Bay in a mixed neighbourhood of residential, commercial and retail spaces.

Featuring a unique twisted shape, United Tower offers 360-degree views of Manama. It is conceived as a architecturally striking building with multiple use, incorporating retail, offices, a hotel, and several restaurants.

Besides an inspiring and modern 26,000-sq-m commercial office space, the hotel giant Wyndham Hotel Group has opened Wyndham Grand Manama in the iconic tower, offering 263 guest rooms and facilities. The hotel occupies 19 floors of the United Tower.

Peter Walker, the CEO of thyssenkrupp Elevator, says: “Thyssenkrupp Elevator is a global player, but also focused on special customer requirements, and we are very proud to have been selected to contribute to this unique project.

“We are firmly established in the Middle East region and the preferred partner especially for infrastructure projects.

“The United Tower in Bahrain is an architectural icon and a potential preview of how urban lifestyle will look like in the future.”

Such a futuristic approach requires adequate mobility solutions that match the building’s characteristic appeal, he adds.

“The elevators and escalators were deployed for an unparalleled transportation experience with quality and innovation playing a crucial role in every detail. The comfortable and efficient elevators are capable of a maximum speed up to 3.5 m/s,” notes Walker.

The elevator company has been actively present in the Middle East for 25 years.
