The DL280-5 ... suitable for handling construction and material handling tasks.

Doosan’s new DL280-5 wheel loader will be showcased in its full waste industry configuration at bauma 2019 exhibition this month (April 8 to 14) in Germany, offering a dedicated design for waste and recycling and general industrial applications.

The DL280-5 offers high performance and productivity with an outstanding breakout force, tipping load and enhanced output.

According to a company spokesman, the DL280-5 is tailored for waste applications, with a wide core radiator and heavy-duty axles, which are approved for the use of solid tyres. The wheel loader’s Z-bar kinematics with a simple lifting piston system is designed for heavy-duty applications.

The wheel loader’s size makes it suitable for handling a wide range of construction and material handling tasks, from loading and carrying construction materials around a jobsite to transporting scrap materials. Performance features include a powershift transmission with optimised hydraulic pumps, multiple power modes, Z-bar lift arm, return to dig, and limited slip differentials on both front and rear axles. The high lift option gives the machine additional lift height and reach.

To help save valuable diesel fuel, auto-shutdown comes standard. Operators can configure the idle time from three to 60 minutes.

The DL280-5 is fitted with a comfortable cab, offering a generous amount of space, class-leading visibility, automatic air-conditioning, an improved steering column, and intuitive joystick controls. A standard 7-inch colour LCD display provides helpful maintenance history.

Maintenance is quick and easy on the DL280-5 wheel loader, with oil sampling and pressure test ports, and engine and coolant drains within easy reach.

Other wheel loaders that will be making their debut at bauma include Doosan’s DL420CVT-5 and DL580-5.

With a maximum bucket capacity of 4.4 cu m, the DL420CVT-5 combines the benefits of a mechanical and a hydrostatic transmission in the same machine. The new DL580-5, meanwhile, has a bucket capacity of 6.4 cu m and a similar look to the next model down the range, the DL550-5, but features robust structural components and an advanced sophisticated double-circuit axle cooling system to provide an ideal solution for applications such as block lifting and other heavier material-handling needs.
