Staff at Terex AWPs’ Changzhou plant ... all set to roll out the 1,000th Genie GS-1330m scissor lift produced at the plant in China.

Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP) has appointed Bahrah Trading Company, an affiliate of Al Sayer Holding, as its new distributor for Genie telescopic and articulating boom lifts and scissor lifts in Kuwait.

Sharbel Kordahi, managing director, Terex Equipment Middle East (TEME) and Genie sales director for Middle East, South Africa, Russia and CIS, Terex AWP, says partnering with Bahrah Trading in Kuwait is part of the company’s strategic and logical move to develop a stronger foothold in the Middle East region.

“As part of the Al Sayer Holding, Bahrah Trading is a solid business with a strong position in the marketplace. For Genie, having the right partner goes a long way as it reflects on our brand as well. Now that Bahrah Trading is part of our growing regional network, customers can be confident that access to Genie products, backed by the responsive, quality service they rely on, is now much easier,” Kordahi says.

Gary Cooke, Genie regional sales manager, Terex AWP for Middle East at Terex Equipment Middle East, comments: “Bahrah Trading has an excellent reputation in Kuwait. Led by an experienced team of professionals with a highly customer-focused approach, a first-class infrastructure and what is probably the best quality after-sales service in the region, Bahrah Trading has everything that Genie customers need to support their business. We are pleased to have them on board as a part of our network.”

Over a period of six decades, Bahrah Trading Company has evolved into a major equipment supplier serving a broad spectrum of clients in the construction, oil and industrial sectors in Kuwait. Offering a wide range of high quality industrial and transport equipment solutions, the company’s reputation has been built on premium brands backed by reliable after-sales service.

Hamza Melakandy, general manager, Bahrah Trading, says: “For us, it’s not just the price of the equipment that we represent that matters, but the quality of the product itself. With the addition of a premium brand like Genie to our competitive offering, our customers can be assured of getting great value for their investment. We are happy to have the opportunity of supporting Genie in Kuwait with the best team, both in terms of sales and after-sales service, in our market.”

Meanwhile, Terex AWPs’ Changzhou plant in China is all set to produce its 1,000th Genie GS-1330m scissor lift.

The scissor lift was introduced globally early this year. This milestone is a testament to the great success of the facility’s production capabilities in China and shows the brand’s capacity to ramp-up production to meet high global demand for this product, says a top official.

“The production of the 1,000th Genie GS-1330m scissor lift at Changzhou facility is exciting news for our customers. Thanks to our world-class lean management practices, the Changzhou plant is able to utilise its production capacity to the maximum extent to better support the demand for this popular product from Terex AWP customers around the world,” says Terex AWP Changzhou operations director Johnny Tan.

Tan says the upcoming production of the 1,000th machine represents a breakthrough of local manufacturing in China and the research and development (R&D) capacity of Genie worldwide.

“In the future, we will continue to pioneer increased manufacturing capacities and technological developments in the industry, as well as provide a new higher level of customer service through comprehensive offerings of our core competency,” he adds.

The Genie GS-1330m scissor lift has been developed in response to worldwide demand for compact manoeuvrability in low-level access and space and weight restricted applications. It is specifically designed to meet the needs of Genie customers in the ever-changing global mobile elevating work platform market.

The GS-1330m offers a maximum platform height of 3.9 m and a maximum working height of 5.9 m, with a two-person, 227 kg capacity, and weighing in at only 889 kg.

The lift is equipped with an efficient, all-electric DC drive system that offers productive power for getting around indoor jobsites with quiet, zero-emissions operation. Industry-leading runtime ensures full day productivity in a compact package, Tan points out.
