Sodap UAE was established in Abu Dhabi in 1989 following the foundation of the parent company, Sodap Liban, in Beirut, in 1985. Initially, the company traded a number of construction materials, primarily waterproofing and tile adhesives and grouts, in the burgeoning construction sector in the UAE's capital.

Solid growth in the early years enabled the company to set up a manufacturing plant in the Mussafah Industrial zone in Abu Dhabi for the production of tile adhesives, grouts, concrete waterproofing systems for concrete and other sealants.

In 1996, Sodap entered into an agreement with Lafarge of France to represent Lafarge's range of concrete admixtures in the Lebanese and Emirates markets. In 2000, following a technology transfer and licensing agreement with Lafarge, Sodap set up manufacturing processes for the admixtures in its two plants in Lebanon and Abu Dhabi.

Raw materials for the admixtures are sourced from Chryso of France and the processed products are sold to all the major concrete and readymix companies in the UAE, including National Readymix. The main admixtures produced are plasticisers, super-plasticisers and BCP, a new-generation plasticiser.

In 2001, Sodap boosted its production again and added premixed plasters to its range of products available ex-factory for its customers.

Apart from its offices and production facilities in Abu Dhabi and Lebanon, Sodap has branch offices in Damascus, Syria and Dubai.

Sodap products have been used in a number of prestigious projects. In Lebanon, they have been used for Beirut International Airport, the Nahr Al-Kalb Bridge, the Lebanese University and Beirut Sports City.

In the UAE, they have been used for the Holiday Inn Crown Plaza, Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Wild Wadi in Dubai and Citibank, Al Taweelah Power Station, the Liwa Centre and the Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi.
