Masar Mall ... Zamil Steel will provide a structural steel building weighing 15,000 metric tonnes for the landmark project.

Zamil Steel Holding, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of pre-engineered steel buildings, has reported a series of strategic and commercial milestones for 2024 and early 2025.

Among its major successes this year was a key contract for the Masar Mall project in Makkah, reinforcing its footing in Saudi Arabia’s commercial construction sector. The contract was signed with Hamat Holding in April, according to the company’s LinkedIn Post.

This new undertaking will see Zamil Steel leverage its extensive expertise, comprehensive services and advanced manufacturing capabilities to meet an ambitious timeline.

Under the deal, the company is tasked with fabricating, supplying and installing a structural steel building weighing 15,000 metric tonnes (MT) and covering an approximate area of 200,000 sq m. This significant structure will form the core of the Masar Mall, a key component of the Masar Destination in Makkah, which is set to be completed in 2026.

The Masar destination aims to create a modern landmark and cultural destination to elevate the quality of life for Makkah residents, visitors, and pilgrims.

Zamil Steel has also signed a strategic contract with Alfanar, a leading manufacturer and trader of electrical products, under which it will design, supply and install approximately 11,000 MT of steel for a multi-storey plant, with a total area of approximately 67,000 sq m, and production lines in Fanar Industrial City in Riyadh. The 700,000-sq-m industrial city is home to Fanar’s facilities, which specialise in the manufacture of low-, medium- and high-voltage electrical products.

Meanwhile, the company’s structural steel unit secured key deals early last year for the Amiral project in the Eastern Province.  These major orders for the petrochemicals sector include supply and fabrication of 22,000 MT of structural steel for the utility flare and interconnection package for Hyundai Engineering and Construction; and 17,000 MT of structural steel for the project’s Derivates Unit and High Density Polyethylene and logistics area for Maire Tecnimont. These contracts involve the supply of a range of components including steel structures, pipe racks and process structures.

Another large order secured by Zamil Structural Steel Company was for the fabrication of around 20,000 MT of steel structures for the Fadhili Gas Plant Phase Two to be delivered to Samsung E&A.  The contract, signed last August, involves steel structures, pipe racks, equipment structures and buildings.

A significant deal – secured by Zamil Steel Pre-Engineered Buildings Company – was awarded by Bahri Logistics Company for the construction of the ‘Bahri Bonded Zone’ complex at Jeddah Islamic Port. Bahri Bonded Zone is aimed at establishing a world-class logistics hub within Saudi Arabia. It comprises an associated office facility, a mezzanine floor, a warehouse, a mechanical roof, and other utility annexes.

The project’s scope encompasses the design, fabrication, supply and erection of a pre-engineered steel building with an area of approximately 37,000 sq m, according to Al Zamil.

The structure is being designed to withstand all gravitational, lateral (wind and seismic), and temperature loads, ensuring exceptional durability and safety in the demanding port environment, the company added.

The company is also advancing its industrial capacity by establishing a heavy metal structures factory in Sadat City, Egypt. Slated to start production by 2027, this facility will add to existing plants in 6th of October City and Sadat City, boosting annual output from 75,000 to 100,000 tonnes, according to news reports.
