Dubai plans to introduce a minimum speed limit of 60km per hour on major highways, a report said.
Motorists failing to comply with the new rule will risk fines, said the Gulf News report.
Motorists who fail to comply with the new rule will risk fines - although the exact penalties have not been decided yet. The minimum speed limit will apply on highways where the existing speed limit is 100 km per hour or more.
'The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority [RTA] will soon start installing signs to educate motorists on the minimum speed limit on highways,' said a senior official.
The rule applies when there is no congestion and there is enough room to drive a car at 60 km per hour and above. The date of enforcement has not been finalised.
