UAE-based Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has launched the first-of-its-kind sustainable autonomous house in the UAE and announced plans to set up a laboratory to  conducting experiments and tests for devices, systems and materials designed for such homes. This is the first model house developed to be self-sufficient and completely independent of the electricity grid. It produces autonomous energy from the sun and depends on smart technical and engineering solutions, while being able to tackle the challenges of the hot and humid climate. Certified by the Passive House Institute in Germany, the model claimed to be is the first-of-its-kind Passive House for hot and humid climate.

The MBRSC has also announced plans to draw up the technical requirements for building and developing these houses.
