Leading UK-based construction group Carillion said one of its units has won a $124.2-million contract from BP for the construction of a residential complex at the Khazzan tight gas project site within Block 61 in central Oman.

The contract, awarded to Carillion Alawi, involves the construction of accommodation facilities, including an operational base, a residential complex for 250 personnel and other infrastructure buildings in the Khazzan gas field, 350 km southwest of Muscat.a

The project work is likely to start next month and is scheduled for completion in mid-2017.

Commenting on the win, Carillion CEO Richard Howson said: ‘’We are delighted to have been selected by BP for this important contract, which I believe reflects our reputation for safely delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions and we look forward to working with BP in Oman.”
