In agreement ... Al Mohannadi and Kim shake hands watched by other officials.

DOHALAND has signed a landmark agreement for QR1.56 billion ($428 million) with a joint venture of Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company and HBK Contracting for the construction of major buildings in Phase 1A of its signature Musheireb project.

Under the terms of the contract, the Amir Annex, Amiri Guard, National Archive Buildings and Cultural Centre in Phase 1A of the project will be constructed. The agreement concludes the award of a total of QR2.2 billion ($604 million) of the major construction packages for Phase 1A – the first of the five phases in the Musheireb – including other major contracts, such as enabling works awarded last year to Bauer International Qatar, and infrastructure works awarded to CAT International, which includes a district cooling plant and a 66-kV substation.
Issa M Al Mohannadi, CEO of Dohaland, said: “We are sure the contribution of Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company and HBK Contracting to the Musheireb development will be a perfect match with the vision and mission of Dohaland and its stakeholders.”
Joong Kyum Kim, president and CEO of Hyundai said: “Working together on Musheireb reinforces our position as a leading contributor to the future of Qatar and its regeneration.”
The QR20-billion ($5.49 billion) Musheireb, which covers an area of 35 hectares, will be completed in five phases, with the first phase due for completion by 2012 and the entire project by 2016.
