Drylining partitions ... “faster to erect and more cost-effective”.

SAINT-GOBAIN Gyproc has launched its SpecSure, a unique drylining system warranty that is claimed to not only guarantee the use of Gyproc products within its systems, but also peace of mind for consultants and contractors in the region.

“Being the only drylining solution provider in the Middle East to warrant its systems demonstrates Gyproc’s confidence in the products it manufactures and the system solutions it tailors to suit the requirements of each project,” says Peter Robinson, marketing manager, Saint-Gobain Gyproc Middle East.

Gyproc is a provider of superior quality products, for high-performing systems, which are rigorously tested to internationally recognised standards, explains Jason Hird, Gyproc technical manager. “Our systems withstand the stringent demands of today’s construction methods and building uses and provide comfortable living and working environments to the occupant,” he says.

Prominent consultants, architects and project engineers from the Middle East were recently shown the varied savings and performance improvements that can be comfortably achieved using Gyproc’s drylining systems, which comprise Gyproc plasterboards, Gypframe metal components and Gyproc accessories, such as jointing compound, tapes and screws.

The Abu Dhabi-based company has undertaken a series of independent case studies that demonstrate project savings of more than 30 per cent where lightweight drylining partitions replace blockwork. “Combine this with a 65 per cent quicker build programme and additional improvements in acoustics and reduced dead load, drylining systems really are a viable option for construction in the Middle East,” says Hird.

Developers can also achieve greater returns with up to six per cent additional saleable/lettable floor space due to thinner partition walls, whilst still outperforming masonry equivalents, he says. Other savings were identified in site logistics – namely fewer materials requiring less storage on site – and reduced forklift truck activity, reducing health and safety risks.

“With the SpecSure system warranty, Gyproc really is future-proofing the future of drylining,” says Robinson.

Saint-Gobain Gyproc Middle East is part of Saint-Gobain, the world’s leading plasterboard and plaster manufacturer. Previously active in the region for many years under the British Gypsum and BPB Gyproc brands, Gyproc Middle East opened its first dedicated $60-million plasterboard manufacturing plant in Abu Dhabi in April last year to meet the growing demand for drywall systems throughout the region.

Saint-Gobain Group was founded in 1665 to deliver a world first – the production of glass on an industrial scale – for the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles in Paris, France. It is now a world leader in the design, production and distribution of materials for the construction and habitat markets including ductile iron pipe systems, plasterboard and plaster, insulation, industrial mortars, ceramics and plastics, abrasives, fire glass and reinforcements sectors.
