Saudi-based Al Yamamah Steel Industries Company has announced that work is progressing steadily on its solar power systems factory which will start commercial operation as per schedule during the second quarter of 2019.

A leading player in the region, Yamamah Steel is engaged in the production and selling of steel welded tubes, steel sheets, steel reinforcement bars and space frames to serve buildings and infrastructure sector.

The factory will produce and deliver the steel structure system that will be used in the tracking system of CSP (concentrated solar plant) in Dubai Solar Park Project – Phase Four, said the company in its filing to the Saudi bourse Tadawul.

The $106.7-million CSP plant supply deal was inked with a leading Spanish company Europea de Construcciones Metalicas recently, it stated.

The contract is for a period of four years and delivery will start from September this year for the next 26 months, the company added.

The Saudi group is also engaged in production and sale of galvanised steel lighting and distribution poles, high mast and galvanised steel lattice towers to serve the electrical and distribution sector. It has production facilities in Jeddah, Dammam and Yanbu.
