The GeKaRobot ... from Gedik.

Gedik Welding, a global expert in welding from Turkey, was at the Metal and Steel Saudi Arabia fair in May to showcase its wide range of products and robotic welding technologies in the kingdom.

The company attracted a great deal of attention from visitors, who showed interest in its GeKa and GeKaTec branded welding consumables and GeKaMac welding machines. Gedik Welding also conducted a video presentation on its GeKaRobot brand of products and robotic welding technologies.

Metal and Steel Saudi Arabia, an international exhibition of metal and steel, this year attracted 242 exhibitors from 28 countries and 7,044 trade visitors joined the fair, which was held from May 1 to 4 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Founded in 1963, Gedik Welding is the flagship company of Gedik Holding. It is today a global industry leader in the field of welding consumables and equipment in Europe. In 1967, further investments were made in three additional fields – namely, sand and investment castings and valve production. Gedik casting and valve factories have recently moved into modern and integrated premises in Hendek, a town and district of Sakarya Province in the Marmara region of Turkey.

Gedik Holding has been growing continuously with investments in Gedik Welding, which has earned the “Golden Star” from the IDDMIB (Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters’ Association) as the number one exporter in the welding category in recognition of its success in exporting to more than 80 countries for the last three years.

Under its trademarks GeKa‎ and GeKaTec‎, the company manufactures about 90,000 tonnes per year of superior quality coated welding electrodes, brazing rods, special repair and maintenance electrodes, as well as gas-shielded arc, submerged arc and flux-cored welding wires. The company also produces its own GeKaMac‎ brand of rectifiers, gas shielded arc and submerged arc welding generators.

Meanwhile, through the Gedik Education Foundation, Gedik Holding has demonstrated its corporate social responsibility, having achieved a number of multidimensional projects especially in welding technologies. The Gedik Vocational School was launched in 2010 and Gedik University in 2012 to contribute to the advancement of welding science and technology through research and development (R&D) projects.

Since 2008, the Gedik Educational Foundation has been an associated member of International Institute of Welding (IIW). It organises international welding engineering/technician programmes – attendance at which is supported by an IIW IWE/IWT diploma – and offers courses (non-destructive testing), NDT certifications and industrial services in the field of destructive and non-destructive testing via the Gedik Test Centre since 2009.
