Ahec gears for design week

The American Hardwood Export Council (Ahec) will participate at both Downtown Design 2016 and Design Ras Al Khor (Drak), two key events taking place during the second edition of Dubai Design Week (DDW), which will run this month (October 24 to 29) across the city.

Aiming to highlight the beauty, versatility and environmental credentials of American hardwoods, Ahec is collaborating with T.Zed Architects on an installation at the event by repurposing thermally modified American ash that was previously used to clad its stand at exhibitions in Turkey.

The installation will not only serve the purpose of being shown at the fair but also aspires to have a prolonged presence in the public realm around Dubai and the UAE, long after the event has ended.

Top brands sign up for SaMoTer

Major brands have signed up for the 30th edition of SaMoTer, which will be held in Verona, Italy, from February 22 to 25 next year.

They include Case, Hyundai, Kobelco and Komatsu – all top players in the earthmoving and construction market. Komatsu is back after the 2014 edition, Case and Hyundai make a welcome return, while Japan’s Kobelco will be making its debut at the trade show.

SaMoTer has been a landmark event in Italy since 1964 for the construction equipment sector and is held once every three years.

This year’s event at the Verona Exhibition Centre will throw the spotlight on how to deal with environmental emergencies and hydro-geological protection.

SaMoTer will be held alongside Asphaltica, the exhibition dedicated to technologies and solutions for road paving, safety and transport infrastructures, and Transpotec Logitec, the transport and logistics event.

Giovanni Mantovani, CEO and director general of Veronafiere, said the presence of these players indicates that large international firms are ready to invest in an event they feel is strategic for the Italian construction machinery market, as it picks up after the collapse in recent years.
