Armitage Shanks ... catering to patients with special needs.

With its wide portfolio of quality products from world-leading brands, the building and construction trading specialist has worked on key projects across the UAE.

Healthcare facilities call for the highest standards of hygiene and safety and Mac Al Gurg of the UAE has been catering to the needs of these highly demanding projects with products from some of the specialists around the globe.

Part of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg group, Mac Al Gurg was established in 1974 and works closely with architects, consultants, contractors and interior designers on projects across the UAE. The ISO 9001:2008-certified company has a comprehensive and readily available product range covering drainage solutions, municipal castings, sanitary ware, bathroom accessories and high-end kitchen solutions for residential, commercial and healthcare projects.

According to general manager Raj Paryani, healthcare solutions are one of Mac Al Gurg’s specialities, and it can provide sanitary ware solutions for every hospital and care facility.

Its portfolio includes products from market leaders such as Armitage Shanks, a premium British sanitary ware manufacturer, Franke from Switzerland, and Delta Faucets.

“Armitage Shanks has been working alongside the National Health Services (UK) for over 50 years continuously developing products and solutions that meet and exceed the requirements of current healthcare guidelines,” says Paryani. “Our association with Armitage Shanks has helped meet the needs for general patients’ wards, surgical rooms, and mental health units, besides other specific requirements within the UAE healthcare sector.”

With bathrooms being particularly challenging environments for people with special needs, Armitage Shanks offers a variety of toilets for the disabled. While these are higher than normal standard toilets, they also come in a low-level style with a backrest support which fits between the cistern and the pan or come in a close coupled version without a backrest, where the cistern and pan are joined.

Also from Armitage Shanks is Doc M Pack. Mac Al Gurg offers various types of Doc M Packs for different requirements and supplies models that are for commercial public applications, nursing homes, and other facilities that provide toilets for the disabled.

To complete its range, Mac Al Gurg offers Armitage Shanks’ special needs equipment choices for toilets, baths and showers. These include grab rails and grab bars in darker or lighter colours than the wall colours for people with visual impairments.

Mac Al Gurg has also partnered with Franke, which is dedicated to creating complete hygienic solutions. Franke offers a wide range of products including hospital washroom sanitary ware and accessories for ablutions. Its hospital products consist of sluice sinks, plaster sinks, scrub-up troughs, sink bowls and tops and combination sluice sinks suitable for hospital wards, accident and emergency rooms, operating theatres, nursing homes and doctor’s surgeries.

“Years of experience in stainless steel have helped Franke develop a range of products for healthcare and laboratory use - from extensive corrosion-resistant sink units to newly developed hand hygiene sinks,” says Paryani.

Also from Franke, Mac Al Gurg offers recessed and wall-mountable bathroom accessories. Robust and easy to clean, these washbasins, soap dispensers, waste bins, paper towel dispensers, toilet roll holders and a host of other products all come in stainless steel.

Meanwhile, Mac Al Gurg has also maintained a market lead in the drainage and sewerage sector, offering some of the best solutions for the construction industry including manhole covers, access covers, gully gratings, channels, slot drainage, and surface boxes.

Among its range of drainage solutions from Europe is Saint-Gobain (PAM, UK)’s line of ductile iron sewerage and potable water pipeline products; Hauraton’s linear surface channel and slot drainage system; Blucher’s stainless steel drainage systems and solutions for residential, commercial and industrial applications; Gatic’s heavy-duty access covers for a wide range of environments and load ratings; and Frost’s roof drains and floor drains in nickel, bronze and stainless steel.
