Making further inroads into the field of interior design, Hewi UK now offers the radical 180 collection of aluminium door knobs and handles.

Clear forms and perfect surfaces are the hallmarks of the contemporary knob and handle designs produced by Hewi, says the UK-based manufacturer.

The 180 collection of aluminium door knobs and handles are designed to satisfy the demands of modern architectural schemes.

According to the company, the use of circular, elliptical and right angle shapes renders a feeling of spaciousness and by concentrating on these basic shapes, Hewi has come up with many and diverse combinations, allowing freedom of design.

Each design combines a durable anodised aluminium surface and high-quality stainless steel. The collection includes a round knob in three different finishes, a square knob, an oval lever handle, and a right-angle design lever handle. Each comes with a corresponding backplate.

''By combining two metals, the company offers the strength and heat resistance of stainless steel along with the optical and tactile advantages of aluminium,'' says company spokesman.

From this initial range, the company plans to expand the collection - tailoring it to the demands of architects, developers and interior designers.

The company also offers the 160 collection of stainless steel door handles and accessories in polished, textured and matt finishes. This range is capable of withstanding heavy use in anything from a simple interior door to a fire door and is available in an extensive choice of designs, he says.

Handles come in three diameters and variable centre-to-centre measurements allow for design flexibility.

Hewi's 150 range of door handles is particular striking because of its extensive choice of colour options, the spokesman says.

This range offers five different styles with 15 innovative colour designs.

These include the Nature palette, and the Reflection variant which is aimed at technical and functional interiors and offers the perfect match for glass, concrete and steel.
