Wolffkran’s Saudi Arabian unit has supplied two tower cranes for a hotel construction project in Madinah as the kingdom continues to expand accommodation capacity for the millions of pilgrims who visit each year.

The cranes, a WOLFF 6031 Clear and a WOLFF 7532 Cross, are handling lifting operations on the site and have been installed on WOLFF foundation anchors, the company said.

The WOLFF 6031 Clear has a lifting capacity of 12 tonnes and reaches a hook height of 86.6 m when fitted with a 60-m jib. The larger WOLFF 7532 Cross has a lifting capacity of 16 tonnes, operates with a 75-m jib and reaches a hook height of 73.1 m. Wolffkran said the two units were chosen for their large working ranges, allowing them to cover the site’s lifting requirements efficiently.

The cranes have been chosen to meet the site’s lifting requirements.

The company’s foundation-anchor installation method, used on both cranes at the Madinah site, is typically deployed on projects requiring high hook heights and heavy lifting capacities over extended construction periods, allowing cranes to remain in place through multiple phases of a build.

The hotel project has been commissioned by Ansab, a Saudi construction company, and is designed to add hotel and guest capacity in Madinah. Wolffkran, a Swiss-headquartered tower crane manufacturer with operations across the Gulf, describes the Madinah scheme as one of several projects through which it is contributing to the continued growth of Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure and tourism sectors.
