AL KOBAISI Group of Companies last month (May) formally launched the Kobaisi Building System (KBS) and Kobaisi Precast as a new division.

The launch also marks the 40th anniversary of the Bahrain-based Al Kobaisi Group.

The company’s managing director Abdulla Kobaisi said the Al Kobaisi Group has taken traditional construction to the next level.

“Prefabrication of block walls is the solution for the current inconsistencies in the construction sector. We have revolutionised traditional methods of construction by launching industrial prefabrication of block walls produced under controlled condition in the factory, thus enhancing quality, minimising construction time, cost and risk.”

The new technology will facilitate affordable houses as well as a host of benefits. The system will mean a reduced construction programme, involving 70 per cent less time, resulting in lower project cost; optimised design; 75 per cent less formwork and 75 to 90 per cent less scaffolding; low wastage and control on loose reinforcement on site; production under controlled conditions; quality control through an ISO-certified laboratory; a TUV-certified production process; and adequate transport and a skilled erection team.

KBS has, meanwhile, clinched its first project using the building system, comprising 17 villas in Sanad, Bahrain. Each of the two-storey villas will have a total built up area of 348.7 sq m.
