Kerun launches integrated power for AI data centres

Chinese power equipment manufacturer Kerun Intelligent Control has launched an integrated transformer and substation system targeted at artificial intelligence (AI) data centres operating in hot climates.

The infrastructure solution is designed to support high-density computing facilities in regions such as the Middle East, where high ambient temperatures and heavy continuous electrical loads place increased strain on local power networks.

The integrated systems combine transformers, prefabricated substations, switchgear and intelligent monitoring equipment, targeting data centre developers, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors and infrastructure operators seeking scalable power distribution systems for mission-critical facilities.

AI data centres and high-density computing facilities present particular electrical challenges, including nonlinear loads, harmonic interference, continuous high-temperature operation and increasing power densities. In hot climates, the thermal performance, fire safety and long-term reliability of transformers become especially important, Kerun said.


Kerun’s integrated systems combine transformers, prefabricated substations, switchgear and intelligent monitoring equipment.

The company’s offering includes K-Factor harmonic-resistant transformers designed for server clusters and environments with high harmonic loads. Kerun said the design can help reduce overheating risks and support stable operation.

The systems can also use FR3 vegetable oil-based insulating fluid, which the company said can provide improved fire safety, thermal performance and overload tolerance for facilities requiring continuous operation.

Other features include high-efficiency power distribution to reduce electrical losses and operating costs, as well as intelligent monitoring and detection systems that provide visibility into operating parameters and support preventive maintenance.

The solutions can be configured with redundant power architectures for mission-critical loads and customised according to voltage requirements, climate conditions, installation environments and individual project specifications.

“Data centres in high-temperature environments require power systems that can deliver stability, safety and efficiency under continuous operating pressure,” said Wang, general manager of Kerun.

The launch comes as investment in AI, cloud computing and digital infrastructure accelerates across the Middle East, increasing demand for reliable power systems capable of supporting energy-intensive computing facilities.
