Representatives from Aldali International and Riham celebrate the handover of the new Grove TMC250E cranes.

Crane manufacturer Manitowoc Co is ramping up its operations across the Middle East and Eurasia, securing new fleet deployments for Kuwait’s energy sector and expanding its equipment refurbishment programme in Türkiye.

In Kuwait, a fleet of Grove TMC250E truck-mounted cranes has been deployed across key infrastructure and energy sites, helping contractors maintain schedules amid heavy demand in the construction and oil sectors.

The cranes are operated by local industrial solutions provider Aldali International, which is using the equipment to haul construction materials, heavy plant, piping, and steel structures across multiple project sites.

“The Grove TMC250E cranes are fast, efficient, and mobile, which makes them well-suited to our requirements,” says Dr Ashraf Hassan Nage Hassan, Managing Director of Aldali International. “Operating this fleet allows us to maintain crane availability across multiple sites while delivering safe and efficient operations.”

Manitowoc’s EnCORE programme was deployed to revitalise a 17-year-old Grove crane in Türkiye.

The units were supplied by Riham General Trading, the authorised distributor for Grove cranes in Kuwait, which commissioned the fleet and provides ongoing maintenance supported by parent manufacturer Manitowoc Co.

The TMC250E model features a five-section 41-m main boom with an 8-m jib, delivering the reach and flexibility required for complex lifts. Equipped with a Cummins Dongfeng ISLe285 engine and a FAST nine-speed transmission, the truck crane reaches top transit speeds of 80 km/h with 40 per cent gradeability, allowing rapid deployment between job sites in Kuwait.

“Our customers benefit directly from these new cranes. Reliable customer support means high equipment availability and minimal downtime, so projects stay on schedule while meeting strict safety and quality requirements,” says Khaled Aladwani, General Manager of Aldali International, noting that equipment performance aligns with the company's broader expansion plans in Kuwait.

Concurrently in Türkiye, Karun, Manitowoc’s dealer and service partner for Grove mobile cranes and Manitowoc crawler cranes, has completed a comprehensive EnCORE refurbishment of a Grove GMK4100 all-terrain crane for İçdaş, a major Turkish iron and steel producer.

The project was carried out at Karun’s EnCORE-approved rebuild facility in Ankara, with the crane undergoing a mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and structural overhaul using Manitowoc-certified parts and procedures.

Refurbishment began in May 2024 and included replacement of the electrical harnesses and critical components, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic hoses. The boom was completely disassembled, including its telescopic cylinder and all five sections, with worn components replaced and locking systems inspected and updated.

The Grove GMK4100 all-terrain crane was refurbished to near new condition for İçdaş, a major Turkish iron and steel producer.

A new slewing bearing and superstructure cab were installed, while major components including planetary gears and hydraulic systems were replaced. The crane also received a complete 1,000-hour maintenance service before being repainted and fitted with TÜV-certified decals.

Following the rebuild, the GMK4100 underwent a comprehensive inspection programme, including load and boom-extension testing, before returning to service.

“This GMK4100 has been a dependable workhorse for İçdaş for more than 17 years. Through the EnCORE programme, we were able to give the crane a second life, ensuring it continues to deliver productive and reliable performance,” says Cihan Bektaş, After-sales Manager at Karun.

The Turkish dealer is now preparing its next EnCORE refurbishment, involving a Grove RT550E rough-terrain crane, and plans to extend the programme to additional Grove mobile cranes and Manitowoc crawler cranes.

“At Manitowoc, we take pride in seeing our cranes restored through EnCORE to the standards they were originally engineered to meet. Projects like this highlight the value of combining factory expertise with the capabilities of trusted local partners like Karun,” says Nate Pears, Global EnCORE Director at Manitowoc.
