Sobha Siniya Island has a 23-million-sq-ft low-density coastal masterplan.

Umm Al Quwain’s first Anantara-branded hospitality project has moved from agreement to construction, anchoring the next phase of Sobha Siniya Island’s 23-million-sq-ft low-density coastal masterplan.

Anantara Siniya Island Resort and Anantara Residences Sobha Siniya Island marked its ground-breaking last month at a ceremony attended by HH Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, alongside representatives from Sobha Group, Minor Hotels and Umm Al Quwain government entities.

The groundbreaking followed the announcement of a strategic partnership between Sobha Siniya Island and Minor Hotels to introduce the Anantara Hotels & Resorts brand to Umm Al Quwain. Sobha Al Siniya is a joint venture between Sobha Realty and Umm Al Quwain Properties.

Officials launch work on the Anantara Sobha Siniya Island Resort and Residences.

Located off the coast of Umm Al Quwain, Siniya Island is one of the UAE’s largest natural islands and is notable for its environmental and historical diversity. It is home to mangroves, beaches and a variety of wildlife and marine life, as well as significant archaeological sites, including a sixth-century monastery and stone circles that reflect the island’s historic role in trade across the Arabian Gulf.

Sobha Siniya Island is being developed as a low-density waterfront community comprising apartments, villas, resorts, leisure facilities and open green spaces, with more than 60 per cent of the masterplan dedicated to water features, open spaces and greenery.

Connected to the mainland by a 1.7-km bridge, the development is designed to offer a distinctive island lifestyle while respecting the natural character and heritage of its setting.

Sobha says the project incorporates renewable energy, water-conservation measures and eco-friendly building materials, alongside ecological parks intended to support sustainable daily living. It also highlights gated access, security systems and concierge services as central to the island’s exclusivity.

Anantara Siniya Island Resort and Anantara Residences Sobha Siniya Island are scheduled to open in 2030 and will comprise 125 hotel keys and 125 Anantara-branded residences.

The development forms a core hospitality component of the low-density Sobha Siniya Island waterfront destination.

The resort will bring Anantara’s distinctive approach to experiential luxury hospitality, with a design inspired by the island’s unique natural features, from its mangroves and beaches to its diverse wildlife and marine life, strengthening Umm Al Quwain’s positioning as a coastal tourism and residential destination.

The partnership with Anantara Hotels & Resorts forms part of the vision to develop Sobha Siniya Island as an integrated coastal destination that brings together living, hospitality, leisure and nature to the highest quality standards.
