Innovative system

Meva has been offering formwork solutions for challenging projects in the region.

Buoyed by the response it has received to its products in the Gulf, German formwork specialist Meva Formwork System is currently promoting its innovative formwork system that is equipped with a revolutionary all-plastic panel that is suitable for a wide range of building projects in the region.

“Over the past three years, we have consistently invested in research and development to bring innovative processes with increased safety and speed benefits to the regional markets and have equipped our entire formwork stock with a water- and weather-resistant all-plastic facing formwork system,” says Jens Luetzo, marketing manager of the company.
Meva claims to be a pioneer in offering an entirely wood-free, all-plastic-facing Alkus sheet for the building industry. Developed in close cooperation with Alkus, a specialist in plastics technology, the system has found application in a number of building projects in the Middle East since it was launched in the global market seven years ago, including the Burj Dubai, designed to be the world’s tallest tower and Abraj Al Lulu residential twin tower project in the heart of the Bahrain’s capital city.
“This is a global innovation that comprises of a totally wood-free technology that is impervious to water and resistant to rotting, rippling, ultraviolet (UV)-rays and loss of flexural rigidity. Its high quality standard is underlined by the seven-year long term warranty on the facing – the first of its kind in the world and unthinkable for traditional plywood-based facing. Having pioneered the implementation of this technology, we have perfected it in long-term use on construction sites across the world,” he claims.
Meva has also invested in engineering services based in the region that includes engineering management with a long-standing international track record. In addition, the company has continually supplied national markets with solutions designed for local needs – an example is the MGC guided climbing and MAC automatic climbing technology active on several projects in the region, says Luetzo.
As a full-service manufacturer and supplier of formwork solutions, Meva is represented all over the world and particularly in the Gulf countries. “This is due to the strong building activity in the region and the importance of its local presence in the UAE to support its prestigious Burj Dubai project,” he says.
The company has also been responding to the trends in the market. “Today, strictly feature-driven product assessment is being replaced more and more by the “solution-service-supply-chain” view. This enables contractors to employ formwork suppliers as partners to improve the construction process. This is the model for the future and will succeed not only in Saudi Arabia, but all over the world,” Luetzo points out.
Meva provides its extensive engineering services to a number of complex building projects. “The company’s engineers take pride in going to great lengths to provide economical and technically feasible solutions. In this way, challenges – where competitors cleared the field – were mastered through engineering intelligence. An example is the German Airbus’ testbed site, where Meva engineers were consulted for the concreting job on the turbine overhaul plant,” he says.
Since its establishment 35 years ago, Meva has launched numerous innovations and is now among the leading companies globally in formwork technology. It has an extensive distribution network with branch offices, subsidiaries on different continents and specialised dealers, to provide advice to contractors worldwide enabling them to plan and construct modern buildings.
