Construction work is currently in progress on a second factory for Saudi Vitrified Clay Pipe Company (SVCP), a Riyadh-based manufacturer of fully-glazed vitrified clay pipes and fittings.
The new facility will have a capacity to manufacture 70,000 tonnes per year of vitrified clay pipes and fittings, which will boost its total capacity to 170,000 tonnes before the end of this year. Scheduled to open by September, the new factory will help the company to increase its lead in the regional markets as well as maintain its exports activities, which last year accounted for around 30 per cent of its output.
SVCP was established in 1977 a joint venture with Saudi, German and Belgian partners with an initial capacity of around 24,000 tonnes annually to serve the markets of Saudi and neighbouring countries. The company, which claims to be the only manufacturer of glazed vitrified clay pipes and fittings in the GCC, became a public company in May last year.
“We have grown over the years by increasing our production capacity to around 100,000 tonnes annually as well as boosting the range of pipe sizes from DN 100 to DN 1200,” says Mahmoud Abu Jbarah, sales manager of the company.
“In response to the increase in infrastructural activity in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf since 2001, SVCP has continuously increased its manufacturing capacity in order to supply its vitrified clay pipes and fittings to a large number of projects on schedule and backed by excellent customer service. Hence, since 2000, the company has increased its capacity from 50,000 tonnes to 100,000 tonnes last year,” he adds.
“Since our inception, we have played a major role in the construction of sewer infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and its neighbouring countries. Over this period, SVCP has supplied hundreds of projects in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf area, and has also exported to most Middle East countries such as Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Jordan and Sudan as well as to the Far East countries and Europe,” he continues.
SVCP has been an ISO 9001:2000-certified company since 1998 and its products are certified for compliance with international standards from several reputable institutes and organisations in Saudi Arabia and Europe.
“Our high-quality vitrified clay pipes are extremely long lasting and are highly suitable for gravity sewer networks since they are made of pure natural materials such as clay, water, air and fire all blended together.
