RAK Ceramics, the Ras Al Khaimah headquartered ceramics multinational was conferred the Arabian Business Company of the Year Award for the year 2004 at a ceremony organised at the Madinat Jumeirah, recently.
RAK Ceramics, which has a worldwide annual turnover of over $300 million is also planning a capacity expansion. Its Ras Al Khaimah plants alone currently produce over 130,000 sq m of tiles a day in addition to over 7,000 pieces of sanitary ware. Apart from this, the company’s overseas plants located in China, Sudan and Bangladesh, account for a global production of 170,000 sq m of tiles per day. By 2005 the figure should increase to over 300,000 sq m of tiles a day when the company’s expansion plans at Ras Al Khaimah, new facilities at India and Iran are commissioned – making it one of the largest multinational companies in the world manufacturing ceramic and porcelain tiles and sanitaryware, says a company spokesman.
RAK Ceramics exports to over 130 countries and sells actively in the competitive markets of Europe, and also in the US and Canada, where aspects of quality, delivery schedule and service is crucial for success.
