Mammut Group, a UAE-based building and construction enterprise, intends to invest heavily on Tekla’s Building Information Modeling (BIM) solution – Tekla Structures – for entire structural design processes, becoming the system’s largest user worldwide when it is fully in use by next year.

“Mammut Group will take Tekla Structures into use in all its design and detailing processes of both precast and pre-engineered buildings (PEB). The implementation has already commenced and after the first two months, Mammut Building Systems has already noticed an increase in throughput from engineering to production,” says Tahir Sharif, head of Tekla Middle East Branch.
“Tekla Structures is a fully-integrated 3D solution that enables the perfect creation and management of three-dimensional building models of any size, regardless of material or structural complexity,” says Risto Raty, executive vice-president of Finland-based Tekla Corporation. “The solution covers the entire structural design process, from conceptual design to detailing, fabrication and erection. The exceptionally smooth collaboration and information management applications are based on Tekla´s world-leading solution for Structural Building Information Modelling, a subset of the commonly-used concept BIM. The same model can be utilised for producing analysis and design results, drawings and reports. Hence steel, concrete and structural design professionals can work with the same shared, always up-to-date model throughout every stage of a building project.
“Tekla Structures minimises overlapping work phases and errors, which translates into shorter project lead times, significant cost savings and better building quality – thus providing an even more competitive future for the entire structural design industry.
“With Tekla Structures we have open technology, ready for our PEB and precast needs, and it is customisable to adapt to the competitive demands of each project. Tekla’s BIM technology enables Mammut to realise its one model vision and to achieve a globally recognised market leadership position in providing PEB and precast structures with software that is ahead of its time,” points out Behzad Daniel Ferdows, president and CEO of the Mammut Group.
“The Mammut Group is an experienced 3D user and thus very aware of what they want from the vendor. They have being using products of Tekla´s competitors’ for several years. Therefore, we are glad about the confidence that they are now showing towards Tekla. With this deal, Tekla strengthens its position as the major supplier of structural BIM solutions throughout the Middle East,” adds Räty.
The Mammut Group is a world-leading enterprise with a total turnover of $520 million and a holding company of three entities: Mammut Industries, which is among the biggest manufacturers of trailers and portacabins in the Middle East; Mammut Building Systems, a leading PEB manufacturer with a production of 6,000 tonnes of steel per month as well as of more than 180,000 sq m of polyurethane-injected sandwich panels per month; and Mammut Technocrete, a manufacturer of precast concrete panel with a production capacity of 4 million sq m of panels per year.
Tekla is the industry-leading international software company which provides innovative software solutions for the building and construction industry, energy distribution and for municipalities. The company’s model-based software products and related services are used in more than 70 countries.
Tekla Group, which employs more than 300 people, is marking its 40th anniversary this year, making it one of the oldest software companies in Finland. Its net sales last year were approximately 38 million euros ($47.96 million), with international operations accounting for 72 per cent of its sales.
