Having designed and built projects that represent several interesting themes, the developers in Dubai have now unveiled plans to develop a 40-storey tower in the shape of an Arab in traditional attire.
Mohammad Al Syoufi, chairman of Dubai-based project developers AAA Group, told Gulf Construction that the company has not yet decided where to construct the Dh500 million ($136 million) project.
The clarification follows a report that Limitless, the master developer of Jumeirah Village had not yet approved the design of Burj Al Arabi.
Jumeirah Village was one of the options the company was looking at since it owns a piece of land there, said Al Syoufi.
“We were asked to present the project by Limitless, but we did not as we felt the land there was too small for our project.
“The tower is expected to be around 40 storeys in height and at the Jumeirah Village site we will not be able to go beyond 35 floors. We are reviewing other options and have three other locations in mind, including Dubailand and Business Bay, where we own land as well,” he said.
Designed by Al Ajmani consultants, the Burj Al Arabi tower will have a total built in area of 400,000 sq ft, of which 350,000 sq ft will be for freehold commercial offices and the remainder will be for retail outlets, restaurants and parking, the report added.
The “iqal” or peak of the tower may include a rotating restaurant and conference centre.
