Main contractor Al Shafar General Contracting Company says that Alimak hoists has helped the company to perform a key role in meeting a ‘fast track’ completion date of just 22 months for a 52-storey, twin tower project on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road.

The company had put to use four Alimak Scando twin hoists to ensure rapid movement of people and materials throughout construction of the Al Kazim commercial and office building, says a spokesman.
“From day one, we knew this was going to be ‘fast track’ working 24 hours and it has not slowed down,” says project manager, Wadih El Chaer. "After having taken the initial delivery of four Alimak Scando 24/32 FC twin-cage construction hoists from local distributor Inma in March last year, we have come to rely on the Alimak more and more as we went higher,” he adds.
The Al Kazim towers project that recently celebrated its ‘top-out’ in week 52 of the construction schedule features three levels of basement, a ground floor and an eight-storey podium plus two 52-storey towers rising 44 floors above the podium to a height of 203 m.
Rising above the towers are two aesthetically-designed extensions ‘topped out’ at 265 m. The basement and podium levels will include parking for almost 2,500 cars. The Alimak hoists has provided a payload capacity of 2,400 kg at a speed of 57 m/min with each cage measuring 1.5 m in width, 3.2 m in length and 2.15 m in height, the spokesman concludes.
