CONSTRUCTION work is in progress on many active developments on Al Marjan Island, the first man-made island in in Ras Al Khaimah, according to Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority (Rakia), which is spearheading investments in the emirate’s free zones, industrial parks and offshore facilities as well as in real estate developments and other ventures.
Rakeen’s mixed-use project Bab Al Bahr, located on the peninsula of the island, is now set to be topped out with handover scheduled for August. The current phase comprises six residential buildings, uniquely shaped in the form of pyramids. Further phases of Bab Al Bahr will feature a hotel, a shopping mall and an office tower.
Another development within Al Marjan, the Marbella Bay, is expected to be completed in 2011. This luxury resort development by Manazil Real Estate Sharjah, located on Island Two, is inspired by the architectural style of the historic Spanish region of Andalusia and will comprise of waterfront apartments and leisure facilities set in landscaped community.
Pacific by Select Group is scheduled for completion in 2011 as well. Located on Island four with luxurious private beaches, Pacific will feature a wide variety of contemporary residences within a verdantly landscaped beachfront community, offering panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and the natural surroundings of Ras Al Khaimah.
Further developments are currently in the process of mobilisation or have already started construction.
Meanwhile, the infrastructure work on Al Marjan Island is progressing at a good pace. Phase One of the infrastructure, which consists of the Peninsula, Island One and Island Two, was awarded to Kumho Industrial from South Korea while Phase Two of the infrastructure, which comprises Islands Three and Four, was awarded to the Italian contractor Rizzani De Eccher.
