Bahrain authorities have announced that work has begun on the Bahrain-Kuwait Health Centre, a key 6,828-sq-m facility in the kingdom's Qalali region.

Being set up as part of the kingdom's Primary Health Care Centres network, the health centre comprises a two-storey main building, reported BNA.

The ground floor will feature 14 specialist clinics, 14 examination rooms, and an emergency unit with 12 beds, while the first floor will house a maternal and child health department, eight dental clinics, and a range of support and administrative services, it stated.

Announcing the project launch, Maryam Abdullah Ameen, the Assistant Undersecretary for Construction, Projects and Maintenance at the Ministry of Works, said the project forms part of the ministry’s continued efforts to strengthen infrastructure supporting the kingdom’s healthcare system, with the aim of enhancing the quality of services available to citizens and residents.

She lauded the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait for its support of the project, highlighting its valuable role in driving national development and fostering public–private partnership.

The health centre's design meets all approved health and safety standards, incorporating advanced engineering specifications, sustainability measures, and green building requirements, said the BNA report.

Energy-saving systems will also be introduced to help protect the environment and conserve resources, it added.
