Tecnimont, a leading global contractor for highly complex plants based in Italy, and Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), a major construction company in the Middle East, have signed a major construction contract with Saudi oil giant Aramco for its Safaniyah Water Injection Project.

The project forms part of Aramco’s upstream development programme at Safaniyah, the world’s largest offshore oil field and a cornerstone of the kingdom’s Arabian Heavy crude output.

Water injection is central to maintaining reservoir pressure and sustaining production at the field, which has been in operation since the 1950s.

Tecnimont, a part of Milan-listed Maire, is delivering the project to Aramco and has subcontracted the on-the-ground build-out to CCC.

As per the deal, CCC will handle project execution and construction work, leveraging its construction capabilities, technical expertise and experience in major oil and gas developments in Saudi Arabia.

The agreement was inked in Al Khobar by Daniele Quintarelli, the Regional Vice President at Tecnimont, and Hisham Kawash, the Regional Managing Director at CCC, following formal approval from the Saudi state oil giant.

The contract signing marks another milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Tecnimont and CCC and reinforces CCC’s position as an execution partner for major Oil & Gas projects in Saudi Arabia.

For CCC, the award deepens a working relationship with Tecnimont that has spanned multiple hydrocarbon projects in the Gulf, said a company spokesman.
