

Following its success with a string of landmark projects in Bahrain, Bahrain Pipes is currently laying the groundwork to expand into new markets this year.
“Our pipes have been used in many residential and commercial landmark projects in Bahrain, including the Hidd port infrastructure works, Durrat Al Bahrain, Bahrain International Circuit and Riffa Views,” says a spokesman for Bahrain Pipes, a leading pipe manufacturer and a business division of the renowned Haji Hassan Group.
The company is a leading manufacturer of corrosion-resistant products for water and waste water treatment and control in PVC (polyvinyl chloride), uPVC (unplasticised polyvinyl chloride), cPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride), HDPE (high-density polyethylene), MDPE, LDPE pipes and PVC/cPVC fittings products for all these sectors and also specialises in custom-fabricated fittings at the request of customers.
Being ISO 9001:2000-certified, it manufactures its products to meet the required international standards of ASTM, BSEN, DIN and AS/NZS. The company also claims to be the only manufacturer of polybutene 1 hot and cold plumbing and heating systems in the Middle East which are marketed under the Flexipipe brand name.
“We export more than 60 per cent of our products to various Middle East countries and intend to expand into new markets during 2007,” he adds.
Bahrain Pipes has a production capacity to more than 20,000 tonnes per annum, currently producing to more than 85 per cent of its capacity. It has recently increased its capacity to manufacture customised pipes.
Elaborating on the benefits of utilising plastic pipes, the spokesman says: “Plastic pipe products offer various economic and environmental benefits such as being corrosion and lead free, durable, tough, light weight, and environmentally-sound and cost effective products while offering increased flexibility, easy installation and rehabilitation, high flow rate properties and industry-tailored options.
“Plastic pipes are ideal for most commercial, residential and industrial sector applications as they have high resistance to a wide range of chemicals as well as heat and pressure.”
Bahrain Pipes procures its raw materials from leading globally-certified companies including Riyadh-based Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) and UAE-based Borouge as well as the US-based Shintech, Japan’s Keneka and Sekisui, France’s Arkema, Germany’s Baerlocher and the Netherlands-based Basell and others across the globe.
Established in 1996 at the Haji Hassan Industrial complex in Salmabad, Bahrain, the company has a staff of around 150 employees.
“With our qualified team of professionals providing technical support and customer services, Bahrain Pipes has become a preferred supplier to government ministries, consultant and contractors across the Middle East for many landmark projects,” the spokesman say.
Some of its major customers include the Ministry of Housing, Bahrain National Oil Company, Central Stores Directorate, Ministry of Works and Agriculture, Bahrain Telecommunications as well as private contractors for roads and buildings in the region.
