Infrastructure projects under way in Qatar have been estimated at QR10.286 billion ($2.86 billion). Mohamed Moabi, of the economics and planning department of Qatar National Bank, gave these figures during his presentation at a recent conference on projects in the state.

These include 92 road projects which have been allocated QR4.641 billion, 129 buildings (QR3.651 billion), 69 sewerage projects (QR1.270 billion) as well as other projects worth QR724 million

The state budget for 2002/03 projected a deficit of QR1.820 billion with the total expenditure projected at QR20.027 billion against a revenue of QR18.207 billion.

The GDP is estimated to have grown by 4 per cent in 2002 to QR61.146 billion from QR58,794 billion in 2001.
