HOK wins Bubiyan deal Kuwait: HOK Architects of the US, Gulf Consult of Kuwait and Mouchel of the UK have been awarded the consultancy contract for the master plan and environment impact study of the Bubiyan island development. The study is to be completed in a year's time.

The deal also includes specific details of the facilities and cost. The build-operate project with an area of 530 sq km is for one of the two Gulf islands northeast of Kuwait bay. The project entails construction of hotels, chalets and recreational facilities on the island.

The scheme also includes a $928 million causeway to the mainland Kuwait.

Oman awards 12 contracts

Muscat: Oman has awarded 12 contracts worth RO2.5 million ($6.49 million) for the construction of houses and internal roads, lighting installation and supply of equipment for development works in wilayats.

The deals were signed by Dr Khamis bin Mubarak Al Alawi, Minister of Regional Municipalities, Environment and Water Resources.

Under the deals 49 houses will be built in Al Sulail in the Wilayat of Al Kamil Wal Wafi, 26 houses in the Wilayat of Diba and 10 houses in the Wilayat of Khasab.
