SSH named consultant for Oman cultural destination

SSH, a leading provider of infrastructure, masterplanning and building design services in the region, has been appointed as the construction supervision consultant for the Sayyid Tarik bin Taimur Cultural Complex project, a landmark development being delivered under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth in the Sultanate of Oman.

Located in Al Seeb, Muscat, the project will create a nationally significant cultural destination on a 400,000-sq-m site. Centred around an urban plaza, it brings together a range of cultural and institutional facilities, including a 23,000-sq-m national library, a 15,500-sq-m national archives as well as four facilities buildings with a combined area of 14,000 sq m and a 5,000-sq-m energy and data centre. 

At its heart is the national theatre, comprising 1,000-seat and 250-seat auditoriums, all set within landscaped gardens, water features, and a signature canopy structure, said the statement from SSH.

The contract was awarded by Mace, the project management consultant, to support the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth on the landmark Omani project.

SSH will be providing comprehensive construction supervision services throughout the delivery, overseeing construction activities, monitoring quality, co-ordinating specialist sub-consultants, and collaborating closely with stakeholders to support the successful delivery of this complex cultural development.

On the contract win, Samiya Aldurai, the General Manager at SSH Oman, said: “We are proud to be appointed by Mace, the project management consultant (PMC), to support the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth on a project that will become an important cultural destination for Oman.”
