Chimica Organica Industriale Milanese (Coim) – a leading Italian manufacturer of roofing systems – has recently completed a project at Jeddah and is now eager to continue its participation in the petrodollar-fuelled construction industry of the kingdom.
Towards the north of Jeddah, Coim has recently provided more than 100,000 sq m of plastic sheets, roofing and wall cladding material for a facility within the industrial area.
The facility – a major manufacturing industry for building products operating over a 400,000 sq m area – has chosen Cesarea opaque ribbed translucent sheets for the roofing and cladding work, and Lariver translucent GRP ribbed sheets for the skylights.
These products were selected thanks to their resistance to industrial acids and chemical compounds as well as their ruggedness, apart from them being light, easy to handle and exhibiting consistent mechanical strength.
“The numerous profiles and wide range of colours, together with the proven durability of the products were other key factors that guided the customer’s design engineers in their choice of Cesarea and Lariver,” says a spokesman for the company.
For over 40 years, Coim has represented a guarantee of reliability for the user. Through a constant commitment for research and innovation, the company has had numerous industrial successes, says the company.
The company’s drive towards specialisation has enabled it to develop extensively in the polyester and polyurethane sectors, and to diversify into numerous and diverse fields of application.
Currently, Coim offers a vast selection of corrugated and ribbed products in a wide range of colours, weights and thicknesses according to use and in lengths limited by transport alone.
Lariver & Cesarea
Cesarea is a technically avant-garde and competitive range of opaque sheets consisting of a reinforced plastic matrix and special additives.
They offer low noise and heat transmission, do not corrode, are extremely durable thus minimising maintenance, and are supplied with original accessories designed ad hoc to be attractive and easy to mount, says the spokesman.
He adds: “Development of the Cesarea roofing system represents the highest possible response to market demand. This material is a new alternative in the roofing and cladding world, offering a certified system and a complete roofing package suitable for building in the residential, sports, industrial and agricultural sector.”
The roofing sheets are made of a special compound incorporating polyester resin and have been tested to withstand temperatures ranging from – 40 deg C to 100 deg C, as well as cyclonic winds, he says.
While the product costs more than steel sheets, it is lightweight and flexible and can be produced in lengths of up to 17 m.
The Lariver trademark represents translucent or opaque reinforced plastic laminates to cover special roofing and walling requirements in residential, industrial and sports buildings as well as agricultural establishments.
Designed to satisfy the diverse requirements of architecture, it forms the perfect solution for roofs, porches, cladding, windows, glasshouses and tunnels, he says.
Set up in 1962, Coim specialises in polycondensation products (esters) and polyaddition products (polyurethanes). The company is active throughout the world, with an extensive network of factories, offices and agents. Aided by a team of 500 professionals, Coim guarantees personalised products.
The company carries out its development work, sales and assistance both directly and in collaboration with a vast network of suppliers and partners, and has factories in Italy, Brazil, Singapore and Germany.
It has a 250,000 sq m factory at Offanengo (CR), where it carries out technological development to offer the reliability, efficiency and flexibility of a large company.
Five production lines enable the company to distribute its products in markets where there is a demand for particular types of product.
