Panic and chaos gripped the region as several major landmarks including Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai International Airport, Jebel Ali Port in UAE as well as Crowne Plaza, a premium five-star hotel in Bahrain, were hit in Iranian missile and drone strikes overnight as part of its co-ordinated attack against the Gulf states.

The strikes come as part of a broader wave of retaliation by Tehran after the reported death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during joint US and Israeli operations.

Targets primarily focused on US military facilities, but collateral effects from direct hits, drone strikes, and falling debris from intercepted projectiles impacted residential towers, hotels, airports, and other infrastructure.

In Bahrain, home to the US Navy's Fifth Fleet headquarters in Manama, the Ministry of Interior confirmed damage to at least three buildings in Manama and Muharraq from drone attacks and debris from intercepted missiles.

The attacks, which began yesterday (February 28) continued until today morning, when the Crowne Plaza, an elegant Bahrain business hotel, got hit damaging its facade.

The hotel caught fire after loud explosions were heard across the country. Authorities said firefighters have successfully contained the blaze after battling it out.
