Sisban Holding has appointed Mohamed Harasani Architects to do detailed design works for the Fairmont hotel in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Bids for the detailed design contract had been called in January after the preliminary design was completed by Sisban Holding in November 2014.

The Jeddah-based Sisban Holding plans to invest SR1.5 billion ($399.8 million) in the development and management of the first Fairmont hotel in the Saudi city, which will be operated by Fairmont Middle East.

The new Fairmont hotel, which will be located on the northern Jeddah Corniche, is being built over an area of 12,400 sq m and will have a built-up area of 75,000 sq m.

Once complete, the hotel housed in a 65-storey tower will have 350 rooms overlooking the sea.

In addition, 100 luxury apartments will be serviced by the hotel to become the first real estate managed by an international hotels corporation in the region, according to Sisban Holding.

Furthermore, the project will include a number of restaurants, sports and recreational clubs, meeting rooms, and will contain the largest conference hall in Jeddah.

The hotel, scheduled to open by the end of 2018, will coincide with the launch of a number of vital projects such as the metro project in Makkah and the expansion of Jeddah airport, which will significantly impact the development of the hospitality sector in Jeddah.
