Piling work at resort

NakheeL has floated tenders for the piling works at a Dh900-million ($245 million) hotels and resorts project being developed with Spanish hospitality group RIU at Deira Islands in Dubai.

RIU Hotels & Resorts is an 800-room property being jointly developed by Nakheel at Deira Islands.

The JV partners have already signed up international consultants Dar Al Handasah to oversee design, engineering and construction supervision of the resort – the first all-inclusive four-star concept in Dubai and RIU’s first property in the GCC.

The tender covers the piling works at the hotel and resorts project, which would involve a total built-up area of 63,000 sq m.

Set on a 3.4-million-sq-ft plot at Deira Islands, the sprawling resort – one of the biggest in Dubai in terms of rooms – will boast four swimming pools, a kids’ club, spa and fitness centre. Dining facilities include an all-day restaurant, a speciality restaurant, four beach eateries and an evening dining area with a stage for live shows and entertainment. There will also be a waterpark occupying 10 per cent of the overall area.

The Dubai developer had earlier said it plans to complete the project in the third quarter of 2019.

The tender documents are available for a fee of Dh5,000 ($1,367). The last date for submission is April 2, it added.
