THE Manitou Group, a leader in all-terrain materials handling, has launched its new rotative telescopic truck, the MRT3255, which is claimed to be three machines in one – a material-handling machine, a lifting platform and a crane.

The MRT 3255 has a working height of 32 m and a nominal capacity of 5.5 tonnes, says the France-based company.

“As capital equipment that is essential on work sites, our machines contribute to the profitability of construction professionals, whether small or large,” says Denis Ruf, Manitou sales manager for France.

The MRT 3255 has a load capacity of up to 7.2 tonnes with a winch at the head of the boom and 12 tonnes at the foot of the boom. The Mercedes engine of 231 hp Tier 4 Final with DEF (adBlue) gives continuously variable transmission (CVT) for greater simplicity, more power and precision, moving the machine at a speed of 40 kmph. It has been fitted with suspension for optimal comfort when travelling on roads. The MRT 3255 has a lifting height of 31.6 m and a forward offset of 27.2 m.

“The MRT 3255 incorporates everything that has made the Manitou brand successful in the development of the rotative telescopic truck: three machines in one, four steering and drive wheels, and three steering modes,” says a spokesman for the company.

For optimal steering, the machine has two joysticks as standard for intuitive initial use. It can memorise the maximum movement speeds of all of the boom actuators. The new control system has been inspired from the Privilege Plus series, with a nine-inch screen and a navigator.

Its new safety features include the load state controller, which continuously analyses the position of the load in space and the working configuration of the machine. The system restricts the zone of movement depending on the attachment and the load that is handled. Meanwhile, the reconnaissance system, E-Reco, detects and analyses the attachment and proposes the corresponding working configuration.

In telescopic mode, the attachments include a tilting fork-holder carriage, unattached fork carriage, dump skips and a multitude of Manitou-approved attachments; attachments in the crane mode are crane jibs, winches and crane-winch; and in the access platform mode, the standard access platform, roofer’s access platform, “aerial jib” access platform, and specific access platform are offered.

The MRT 3255 can be used for construction at sites, roofing, metallurgical construction, steel erecting companies and industrial maintenance.

Jean-Philippe Herel, product line manager of the rotative and heavy range, comments: “The application versatility of rotative telescopic trucks is undeniable. Depending on the attachments fitted at the end of the boom, the MRT is material-handling machinery, a lifting platform and a crane, all at the same time.”

Manitou Group designs, manufactures, distributes and services equipment for construction, agriculture and industry. Its product range includes telehandlers, all-terrain, semi-industrial and industrial masted forklifts, skid-steers, track loaders, articulated loaders, access platforms, truck-mounted forklifts, warehousing equipment and attachments.
