Sontay, the UK-based market leader in control peripheral products, has recently introduced a range of sensors into the Middle East which features the latest advanced digital technology, to offer precision measurement of relative humidity values in commercial and public building applications.

The product is now offered in the region through its dedicated Middle East office in Dubai, which opened nine months ago to tie in with the appointment of John Cameron as the Middle East sales manager.
The RH humidity sensors incorporate special resilient, self-calibrating digital sensing circuitry to ensure accurate and reliable performance up to 100 per cent relative humidity. They provide reduced hysteresis and repeatability of the control signal, features further enhanced by the digital electronics being scaleable, allowing the precise operating range to be selected, says a spokesman for the company.
This new breed of sensor also features adjustable sensitivity. By narrowing the range to the preferred RH (relative humidity), a greater accuracy and higher resolution is achieved – which is important in many of today's close control applications.
"Provided with a choice of either a plus/minus 2 or 3 per cent degree accuracy, Sontay's RH sensors include options for a local display of up to three sensed variables and the capability for direct thermistor temperature measurement to widen application versatility. Additionally, these units may be specified with output signals for enthalpy and dew-point, particularly useful in air-handling and chilled beam applications, a feature usually available only in process quality sensors. At the same time, on-board diagnosis speeds installation and commissioning time. Designed for installation as integral-sensing devices within a building's control system, outputs are link selectable with four to 20 mA or 0 to 10Vdc outputs.
The RH series is a part of Sontay's comprehensive control peripherals offering to the Middle East building services market.
“Sontay products are renowned for their accuracy, reliability and discrete appearance and are used by many of the market leaders in the worldwide building controls industry. Its products and control solutions help improve building management system performance, reduce energy and maintenance costs and increase occupant comfort levels,” the spokesman concludes.
