The newly-launched Samsung Electronics air-conditioner V-series range is claimed to deliver the world’s first air-conditioners with technology that fight SARS, bird-flu and second infections.
Along with the newly-launched M-Series and F-Series, the three split-type models are expected to drive the growth of Samsung’s home appliances business in the Middle East.
The Samsung-patented Micro Plasma Ion, embedded in the V-series – the hallmark of the new range – generates active hydrogen atoms, which combine with oxygen ions to intensively purify the air by decomposing viruses, bacteria and allergens.
“All the new models feature the cutting-edge Samsung technology – Good Sleep Mode – that automatically adjusts the room temperature and maintains the optimum skin condition during the three stages of dormancy: ‘falling asleep’, ‘sound asleep’ and ‘wake up’, says Sang Yoon Kim, director of the Home Appliances division at Samsung Gulf Electronics.
According to Kim, “The launch signifies a breakthrough in the air-conditioning industry as it effectively combines cost-savings, outstanding performance and improved quality of life. This new range is at the forefront of the region’s air-conditioning industry as it consolidates high-quality air-conditioning and temperature control functions, up to 30 per cent energy saving and improved physical and mental well-being.”
The technology was developed based on worldwide studies conducted by Samsung revealing that a decline in the quality of sleep has harmful effects on a person’s mental and physical well-being, he says.
This new range signifies Samsung’s growing focus on developing technologies that improve the quality of life. The Micro Plasma Ion technology has been developed to combat common diseases and prevent their spread, whilst the Sleep Mode provides a precise temperature control programme that maintains an optimum temperature for the skin during the three stages of dormancy, he says.
The Good Sleep mode automatically cools down the room temperature as the person falls asleep, maintains a wavy temperature control and undetectable air stream during sleeping hours and progressively increases the room’s temperature as the person wakes up to raise the human body temperature for a refreshing wake.
The mode has further proven to decelerate skin aging and saves up to 30 per cent energy compared with a normal cooling system, he adds.
For the Middle East and African region, the Samsung air-conditioners are further equipped with the UTR (Ultra Tropical Rotary) Compressor Plus which is a complete trouble-solving broker in sweltering areas. The products are also accompanied with the silver-nano-coated evaporator and filter, which affords fresher and healthier air.
To showcase the new range to channel partners, Samsung is holding a distributor road show across the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar to provide hands-on advice and training to the respective partners in each country.
The range is now available at all Al Juma’a Majed stores across the region starting at the retail price of Dh1850 ($504).
