The completion of Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in the Red Sea Project, marks a significant milestone for the Saudi Arabian luxury sector, introducing a “zero-impact” engineering philosophy to the Ummahat archipelago of the project in the west of the country.
Designed by Foster + Partners and commissioned by Red Sea Global, the resort comprises 65 high-spec villas that prioritise ecological preservation through a sophisticated blend of modular construction and smart building technology.
A primary objective of the project was the implementation of a “reversible” structural framework, ensuring that the entire resort could be decommissioned in the future without damaging the sensitive marine ecosystem. This was achieved by utilising a prefabricated modular strategy where structural components were assembled off-site to reduce noise pollution and material waste.
Nujuma’s villas feature smart building solutions from Vimar’s Eikon series.
The 65 villas, shell-like in shape, emerge from the Ummahat archipelago: some are set directly on the beach, while others are suspended over the water on stilts, linked by loop-shaped walkways, ensuring direct, private access to the sea.
Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, was constructed using wood and rope, chosen not only for their sustainable nature but also for their ability to minimise waste and noise. These materials, prefabricated elsewhere and assembled on-site, allow for environmentally respectful construction.
The electrical infrastructure of the resort required a system that could deliver high-performance functionality while meeting the aesthetic demands of a premium reserve.

Meanwhile, the Eikon Exé range, in a refined white total-look finish, introduces a minimalist elegance inspired by the purity of the surrounding seascape. The wiring series stands out for its design and finishes with high technology solutions devised to evolve side-by-side with lifestyles, making the electrical system unique. It features a cover plate with squared and striking silhouettes, providing the right combination of precision technology and craftsmanship, available in a variety of materials and finishes, from stone, to metal and glass and capable of blending in seamlessly with any environment. Eikon Exé can offer numerous solutions for system customisation, striking the perfect balance between aesthetics, technology, and sustainability.
Both series provide customisable control interfaces for lighting, temperature, and energy management, integrating over 200 functions in line with international standards. These smart systems allow discreet, efficient automation that enhances sustainability and guest comfort, underscoring the project’s eco-conscious ethos.
