Geoplast, a low and high-density polyethylene and polypropylene products specialist from Italy, introduced to the UAE its economical and reusable plastic formwork systems for round and square columns at the recent Big 5 show in Dubai.
“Geotube is the first plastic formwork for making round columns,” says a spokesman for Geoplast of Italy. “Reusable for several castings, it is a new-concept and different from the formworks made of plywood or similar materials. Geotube – which has two variants: Geotube for round columns and the Geotube Quadro for square columns – allows the quick and easy removal of formwork without the use of dismantling agents,” he adds.
Geotube is a modular element, 60 cm long, so it does not need cutting or adapting since only the elements necessary for the casting are used.
The various elements of the Geotube fasten together by means of a very resistant nylon handle. Installation and dismantling are quick and easy thanks to the handles, which allow complete fixing of the forms at 90 degree angles. Since there is no set direction of installation either for the Geotube or for the handle.
In addition, the surface of the colour obtained with Geotube has such a good finish that it can be left exposed without further treatment, the spokesman says.
Geotube is competitive as regards costs and can be reused for at least 30 castings. Since concrete does not stick to plastic, the form can be cleaned with water without using other detergents and/or lubricants and can be completely dismantled and stored even in damp places. Thanks to its compact dimensions, it can be easily moved on the site and installed where necessary.
Geotube Quadro –used for square columnar castings – also shares the same characteristic of at least 30 castings and is as easy and time-saving as the Geotube in installation, storage, cleaning and dismantling, says the spokesman.
Geoplast has a 30-year track record in plastic innovation and product development. It all began in 1974 when the Pegoraro family established a business dealing with the regeneration of low and high-density polyethylene and polypropylene.
“At a time when the regeneration processes were hardly known, the Pegoraro family became the pioneers in the field of plastic materials,” says the spokesman. “They soon stood out for the quality of their production, obtained through innovative regeneration processes.”
Later, in 1988, the company began operations as moulder of plastic materials and producer of plastic articles on behalf of third parties. Soon created its own commercial network and started making new systems for building and gardening applications. Since then, it has come a long way to be one of the leading manufacturers of plastic components for the construction industry.
Geoplast is currently engaged in researching and developing new products so as to keep abreast with the ever-increasing demands of the global construction market. The company’s research centre pays great attention to the quality of the materials makes to suit the customer’s requirements.
The company has focused on providing good service along with efficient production and a reliable distribution network.
