Atlantic electric water heating appliances ... cope with challenging environments.

THE Atlantic Group, a French manufacturer and European leader of domestic water heaters and heating comfort solutions, packs in a range of innovative and advanced features behind the uninspiring façade of the water heater.

These technological enhancements, which have been developed based on the group’s 35 years of experience in the sector, will be showcased at The Big 5 show this month.
Atlantic’s range of electric water heating appliances and domestic hot water (DHW) technologies products are engineered and built to cope with challenging environments such as desalinated water.
The company’s innovations cover all both its domestic and commercial ranges of products. Its patented O’ Pro system’ (derived from Ohmic PROtection) for its domestic range, is a passive electronic anti-corrosion reinforcement system which ‘manages’ the magnesium anode protection, thus increasing its service life, says a spokeswoman for the company.
In addition, in compliance with European standards, all domestic products of Atlantic have an in-built high level IP (ingress protection) that protects their electric parts against contact with water, ensuring safety for end-users.
Atlantic has also kept pace with new technologies and markets a range of DHW systems. Some of its new DHW devices are:
Solar water heaters, which comprise a range of high-end domestic systems, incorporating premium European technologies for roof solar panels. The indoor tanks are fitted with additional dry ceramic electric heating elements and an electronic system for optimal energy management; and
Thermodynamic water heaters, a range of high-end products which “use ‘free’ energies available in the environment by simply ‘pumping them’ and using them to heat up DHW,” she says. “A highlight of this smart and simple system is that it will produce energy by burning just a little of it.”
“Atlantic is proud to be able to match the latest standards in global environmental policies, which are now largely promoted by the governments in the Gulf region,” she says.
Turning to its commercial heaters, two brand names associated with the Atlantic Group have gained popularity. These include the Pacific brand of commercial calorifiers and Securex, which incorporates a patented unique inner mineral lining technology to protect tanks.
Securex comprises of a 2-mm to 3-mm-thick micro-porous mineral layer that fully coats the inner tank. Once the heater is filled with water and switched on, a passivation process is activated which creates an antibacterial and long-lasting protection, turning the pH of inner environment to grade 11, an alkaline one, the spokeswoman explains.
“In the past, this technology was largely used in its simpler form – as a concrete lining and was subsequently abandoned by manufacturers because it was not so easy to master,” she points out.
“However, Atlantic stays loyal to such proven technologies and develops and enhances them for future generations,” she adds.
With more than two million water heaters manufactured in modern integrated factories every year, the Atlantic Group supplies one of the largest ranges of DHW tanks and calorifiers available worldwide.
The array comprises electric, indirect, combi, solar, thermodynamic and stocking tanks, varying from 15 litres to 3,000 litres in capacity.
A leading manufacturer of electric heating and DHW technologies, the company has been growing in stature and strength and today has a 4,000-strong staff and a turnover of €800 million ($1.19 billion).
The group has seven manufacturing sites in France, three of which are dedicated to water heaters. Two overseas manufacturing facilities are located close to strategic export markets such as the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe. These include one facility in Egypt, which was its latest major investment, and is dedicated to water heaters specialising in 10-litre to 150-litre models. This unit is now the largest industrial site for manufacturing water heaters in the Middle East. Built using French technologies and management, the Cairo plant supplies the most demanding markets worldwide, such as Germany, France and Denmark.
“Our long presence in the Gulf market is itself a proof of our positive performance and in addition we have received positive feedback that demonstrates client satisfaction,” she says.
Atlantic will be present in Hall 4, Stand C151.
